Marines, this year at the National Convention, our very own Richard Gore was elected as the National Judge Advocate. Congrats Richard! We know you will do your best. There were also a ton of the by-laws changes. A major change is the Notice of Death forms: Administrative Procedure, Chapter Seven, Section 720 (a) (3)-Death of a member of the Marine Corps League was changed to read: Utilize the "Notice of Death" form. This form will be in four parts: Detach and retain the bottom copy. Forward the balance to the Department Chaplain. The Department Chaplain will retain the bottom copy and foward the the balance to National Headquarters "ATTN: membership". National Headquarters will forward a copy to the National Chaplain. Another change was use of white gloves. The by-law now reads "Members who are participating in Memorial Services and who are in MCL uniform may wear "White Gloves" of the same type as is worn by the Uniformed Services. Wearing of White Gloves will be a the discretion of the Senior Officer in charge of the service". Another change talkes about the white DUTY belt which is not talking about the belt that you wear for your dress blues. This is the big duty belt that you wore while on duty. "A. Whit duty belt may be worn by a member while performing the duty as Sgt at Arms or as a member of a Ceremonial Unit or Color Guard, and only with the Undress Uniform Short Sleeve White, or Long Sleeve White Shirt. B. The Duty Belt should be the standard White Cotton Belt 1 3/4 with Brass Marine Corps waist plate w/EGA, either highly shinned brass or Hamilton gold plated anodized brass with the EGA. Associate members will wear the plain buckle. Another By-law change discused the Khaki Shirts. THe Khaki Shirts are not authorized. They are not a uniform of the Marine Corps League. Also, the 2012 convention will be in Alabama. The 2011 convention will be Boise, ID. The new National Officers are Commandant: Vic Votagio Sr Vice: Jim Tuohy Jr Vice: John Kovalcik.
